Afri-Cola knew how to stand up to the VW T1 Coca-Cola
It was one of the most renowned brands of the Economic Miracle era. And, unlike Coca-Cola, Afri-Cola was a contender from Germany, whose brand of soft drinks was highly popular and, in some regions, even outshone the competition from the United States in the form of Coke’s licensees. No wonder then that the soft drink manufacturer picked what was then the first VW T1 “Type 2” as their standard delivery van. WIKING has reproduced to the last detail the advertising image Afri-Cola was using at the time. While devoting new moulds to the “Bulli” that started it all, the traditional model makers deliberately chose to let the design language of legendary master model maker Alfred Kedzierski speak for itself. Entirely true to the original, the details in this model range from the continuous bench seat in the front to the contemporary engravings on the body and to the direction indicators, double doors and door fittings on the outside.
