The history of the silver-painted ES64U2 locomotives begins in 2000, although the first machine of this type was not built for \u00d6BB. In September of the same year, the Siemens works in Munich-Allach delivered a locomotive with running number 1116 901.
\nSiemens decided to build some additional ES64U2 and ES64F machines, which were constructed in large numbers for different customers at this time as the basis for a pool for its new leasing activities. Siemens Dispolok GmbH was founded as an independent subsidiary to manage the locomotive pool. Hupac SA, one of the leading providers of rail transport in intermodal traffic through the Swiss Alps, was one of the first customers for the new Siemens pool and had its locomotive painted in its own company colours.
\nIn 2002, all three machines were converted for operation in Switzerland. This involved the use of the Swiss ZUB\/Integra safety\/signalling systems and pantographs with smaller contacts (1450 mm), which are required for operation in the many Swiss tunnels.
\nAll three machines are used in Germany and Switzerland for many different services, not only for transporting Hupac convoys, but also for Hupac partners and other open-access operators who need tractive power for a certain amount of time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
